Children's Realm

The NEW Pittsburgh Renaissance Festival provides the perfect playground for a child's imagination. A fantasy world of gallant knights, magical wizards and lovely ladies awaits! Children can watch the hatching of a baby dragon, dance at the Maypole, search for gold and treasures in the sandbox, or thrill to the excitement of brave jousting knights as they do battle on the King's Field of honor.
A visit to the Children's Realm offers a treasure hunt as well as many free crafts, games and activities. Each day our Queen spends time with visitors in the Kingdom telling wonderful stories, and our good and gracious King bestows knighthood on all children for their valor and service to the Crown.

The Renaissance Festival has many challenging games for children and adults alike. Visitors can receive instruction in the fine art of fencing in the Salle de Arms or test their skills in archery, the ax, knife or star throw. It's possible to test one's strength, slay a dragon or throw a spear at the Festival, or try one of the people-powered rides - The Wild Boar Swing, The Crows Nest, and Hippogriff swing.

In addition to games and rides, the Festival offers many fine crafts that may appeal to children:  wooden puzzles, garlands, wooden swords and shields, face painting, crystal styx, ocarinas, puzzle rings, costumes and hats.

Tempting treats for the kids include: Squire Dogs, cookies, ice cream sandwiches, chilled juices, milk, brownies, corn on the cob, pickles, pretzels, root beer floats, pizza, Italian Ices, chicken and chips, not to mention delicious orange and strawberry Icees!
